Hank's Corner #3: The Story Behind the Audiobooks

Thursday, April 25, 2013 | By John R. Erickson

Hi Everyone!

Here's the latest from John R. Erickson! Hear the story of behind the making of the first Hank the Cowdog audiobooks.

Fun Fact: Did you know that, from the start, John intended for the stories to be read aloud? One of the most unique features of the Hank the Cowdog series is that he has done them all in the audio-book format, performing all the character voices himself and composing two original songs for each episode.

“Ours was a small, boot-strap, family operation. I couldn’t afford to hire actors

or musicians, so I had to learn to do it all myself." -John R. Erickson

Since then, the Hank series has become the longest-running series of children’s audios in America, and in 1996 the author won the Audie Award for the best children’s audio book of the year, beating out titles from Disney, Random House, and the biggest audio publishers in the country.

Hope you enjoy this latest episode of Hank's Corner
