John Erickson's Program at Bastrop, TX's "Yesterfest" Festival a Sensation!

"Yesterfest Chair Deborah Johnson did a bang up job in lining up top-notch music, dancers, demonstrators, gunfighters, and storytellers in Bastrop’s annual nod to our past. My job this year was to play host to author John Erickson, of “Hank the Cow Dog” book fame. He was delightful and fun to be around.

John spoke twice on Saturday, talking about “Hank, head of ranch security” and singing a few ditties while he played his banjo. A lot of Hank fans showed up with their own books for John to sign, along with purchasing some of his later writings, totaling 65 books in all.

Probably his most ardent fan was young Sean. He and his parents came to John’s first appearance with Sean wearing a “Hank the Cow Dog” t-shirt and clutching an earlier edition to be signed. They were back for John’s afternoon reading. After it began, I walked away for a bit, and when I came back, Sean was standing at the microphone next to John, singing along with him. It made that young man’s day. John was pretty blown away by it too!"
