A great article in Southern Views Magazine in which former First Lady, Laura Bush, mentions Hank: http://www.soviewsmag.com/extras/L_bush/page.html

Quote:

Growing up, what’s your first literary memory? What books would you recommend for teens and children? And what book are you currently reading?

I remember lying in bed with my mother and reading Little Women and we both cried when Beth died. As parents, it is so important to read with your children and put your arm around them. I recommend teens reading the infamous novel, To Kill A Mockingbird for Atticus Finch’s code of conduct. And as for children, there are so many good Newberry Award winning books out there such as the classic Little House on the Prairie and the humorous mystery series, Hank the Cowdog. As for myself, I just finished reading My Name is Mary Sutter, which explores the advances in medicine during the Civil War. My husband just finished reading The Help, which is next on my list.
